Section II. 9. Awards & Prizes
As dancers and competitors, the leadership of IDP-sanctioned events understands that there are many individual and collective reasons why people choose to put so much of their heart and soul into social and competitive dance; recognition and reward are but two of the reasons that can be acknowledged through competition. To that end, IDP believes that competitor achievement should be recognized and rewarded at all levels.
Therefore, all Couples, Pro-Am, and Cabaret competitors are eligible for cash and/or scholarships, or other prizes, as may be made available through IDP-sanctioned Sponsors (e.g., cruises, merchandise, etc.), when they place in the Top 3 for Individual Dance Championships and Cabaret*, or in 1st place in their respective Division Dance Championships*.
Individual awards for each dance style in a particular Division, as well as the Division Dance Championship award for a particular Division will be presented shortly after that Division has been completed, while Competitors are still in costume, and their friends/family are still in the ballroom to share in the moment.
All Professionals dancing with Amateur’s in Pro-Am competitions are eligible for two types of Top Teacher awards. One award is based on raw score placements (i.e., results), and the second award is based on number of competing students (i.e., volume). All Top Teacher Awards will be presented at a day/time to be announced in the Event program.
